Watermelon Moonshine

Recipe for Watermelon Moonshine made in a mason jar and served with a little lime to cut the burn.  Inspired by the sweet song country musician Lainey Wilson performed as Abby in Yellowstone season 5. This recipe is an excerpt from my Unofficial Yellowstone Cookbook.

You can make moonshine out of watermelons, but it requires a still, like the one the doctors had on MASH and that is a different show entirely. So to make it easy, and for the sake of continuity this cocktail made with watermelon and moonshine.

Ingredients

  • cups moonshine or more if needed
  • 4 cups watermelon chunks
  • Lime wedges for serving

Instructions

  • Stuff the watermelon chunks into a 24-to-32-oz mason jar with a lid and smash them down with a kitchen mallet to release the juice. Add enough moonshine to cover completely. Seal and let sit for 1 week, inverting the jar every other day. Refrigeration is optional. Serve strained over ice with lime wedges.
