The Muddler: Tequila Cocktail with Grilled Tropical Fruit

The Muddler is a tropical tequila cocktail made with grilled fruit, Mandarine Napoleon, and curry bitters for a hint of spice. Recipe courtesy of Warren Bobrow, author of Apothecary Cocktails. Thanks Warren! 

Mandarine Napoleon is made with mandarins and cognac – a liquor invented for and favored by the famous dictator who apparently loved food.

Tropical Grilled Fruit Tequila Cocktail Recipe

Ingredients

  • 2 shots Tecnico tequila
  • ½ shot Mandarine Napoleon
  • Grilled pineapple
  • Grilled orange
  • Grilled lime
  • Grilled grapefruit
  • 3 drops Bitter End Curry Bitters

Instructions

  • How to grill pineapple and tropical fruit for cocktails. Food photography and recipe by Jackie Alpers
    Grill the fruits over hardwood charcoal until just charred (about 3-4 minutes on each side)
  • muddled grilled fruit in a glass
    Muddle about a chunk (1″ or so) of each in a cocktail glass
  • Add the Tecnico tequila
  • Add the Mandarin Napoleon
  • Shake (with ice) and strain into a tall glass
  • platter of grilled fruit for cocktails
    Finish with three drops of the Bitter End Curry Bitters and garnish with a slice or two of the grilled fruit.
