On Christmas Eve after seeing Buddy the Elf on TV running through Central Park to help Santa, Jovie forgets her plain bowl of ramen, leaving it uneaten to go and find him.

Here are some simple ways to turn everyday package ramen into something unforgettable, using a little elfin magic. Some add-ins can be cooked right with the noodles in the same amount of time it takes for the ramen to cook.

In the movie Elf, Jovie forgets her simple bowl of ramen, leaving it uneaten on Christmas eve to go find Buddy the Elf. Here are some ways to make simple packaged ramen unforgettable.
Ingredients
- 2 large packages of ramen noodles with flavor packets any variety (about 4-oz each)
- 1-2 tsp mayonnaise preferably Kewpie
- 2 eggs
Ideas for Ramen Add-Ins
- 2 Tbsp kimchi
- 1 baby bok choy quartered
- Sesame seeds
- Chili crisp such as Fly by Jing
- Soft boiled eggs
- Cooked tofu, chicken, beef or shrimp
- Shitake, wood ear or other mushrooms
- Dried kelp or nori
- Scallions
- Tahini
- white or red miso paste
Instructions
- Cook ramen noodles according to package directions, adding the bok choy if using once the water starts to boil.
- Meanwhile, in a serving bowl, whisk together egg and mayo with the contents of the ramen’s flavor packets, then gradually whisk in about 1 to 2 cups of cooking water from the ramen, depending on how soupy you like it. Drain the noodles from the remaining cooking water and add to a serving bowl. Top with kimchi, baby bok choy, sesame seeds, chili crisp and/or any other suggested add-ins as desired.
