After extensive research, I learned the REAL Buddy The Elf breakfast spaghetti recipe.

  • 8 oz dry spaghetti
  • 1 tsp butter
  • 1 3.1-oz box Sno-Caps
  • 1 large handful about ½ cup pastel mini marshmallows
  • Chocolate syrup to taste
  • 1 large handful Nestlé Smarties or M&M’s
  • 2 chocolate Pop-Tarts or other chocolate toaster pastry

  • Prepare the spaghetti according to package directions, drain and toss with butter, then pile onto a large plate.
  • In this order, top with: Sno-Caps, mini marshmallows, chocolate syrup, Smarties and crushed chocolate Pop-Tarts. Mush together by hand (or with tongs) and shove into your mouth one handful (or forkful) at a time.

Fun Fact!:
Pink M&M’s did not exist when Elf was in production. Instead, the props team used Smarties, colorful chocolate candies that are only available in Canada (where Elf was filmed) and Europe. Smarties can be ordered online to accurately replicate Buddy’s famous dish. This recipe is from my Unofficial Elf Cookbook
