Cook Time: 10 minutes
Sicilian Shrimp with Hot Peppers and Lots of Garlic
These shrimp go great with a glass of wine and a conversation. It's a dish to be shared, because if everyone is eating it, you won't have to worry about reeking of garlic... or you could just eat it all by yourself when no one else is around to the same effect. It's fun either way.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound raw shrimp shells removed
  • 1 cup good white wine
  • 1-2 Serrano chilies sliced thin or use your favorite kind of hot pepper
  • 6-10 cloves garlic about 4 tablespoons, sliced thin
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon butter
  • juice of 1 lemon
  • 1 teaspoon oregano

Instructions

  • Saute the garlic, chilies and oregano in the olive oil over medium heat for one minute.
  • Gently nestle in the shrimp.
  • Pour in the wine and squeeze in the lemon. Cover. Wait 5 minutes.
  • Take off the lid, add in the butter, cook two minutes longer and serve.
